Position:
Park Maintenance Worker III (Parks Division) Athletic Fields
Compensation:
Salary Schedule B – Grade III
$38,400 - $54,000 Plus excellent benefit package.
Description:
Assists in planning, supervising and executing the maintenance of athletic fields (natural grass and synthetic surfaces) and related work as required. Position reports to the Manager of Park Maintenance.
This job includes, but is not limited to:
- All types of sports field maintenance labor, such as turfgrass management, irrigation management, field layouts and markings, and baseball specific – infield, mound and home plate maintenance.
- Operation and maintenance of power equipment.
- Working knowledge of the maintenance of sports fields; seeding, sodding and maintenance practices for sports field turfgrass and synthetic surfaces; the planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners, herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; irrigation systems, including wells, pumps and automatic controls; and game preparations, including painting multiple field layouts.
- Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient utilization of crew and equipment; to prepare clear and concise reports; and to maintain effective employee and employer communication.
- Excellent customer service skills and continuing education to keep current on industry trends is required.
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Qualifications:
Two or four year turf degree, or related field. Minimum three (3) years of related athletic field and turf maintenance experience. Requires basic computer skills, valid drivers license and Pesticide Operator’s License. Certification as Certified Sports Field Manager (CSFM) preferred.
Hours:
Full-time, 40 hours per week.

- Submit to a reference check, state criminal background check, pre-placement physical and pre-placement alcohol and drug testing upon appointment, and to random, reasonable cause and post accident alcohol and drug tests.
