Established in 1926
The Midwest Association of Golf Course Superintendents, (MAGCS) founded in 1926 by a small group of Chicago area "Greenkeepers", has progressed over time to include a membership of eight hundred individuals, representing close to three hundred golf courses in the greater Chicago metropolitan area.
Regular members are Golf Course Superintendents from golf courses throughout the Chicagoland area and Illinois, as well as the other Midwest states of Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan. Associate members include men and women in supportive businesses who provide a vast array of essential products and valuable services. Honorary members include university and industry experts in various specialties who provide research, education, and counsel to those directly involved with the highly technical and dynamic field of golf course management. Realizing the importance of the skills and knowledge of our equipment technicians, the MAGCS is one of the first organizations of its kind to include a Technician membership class.
Through the hard work of our membership, the golf courses maintained by MAGCS members have earned the reputation as the finest and best managed in the country. MAGCS is a true membership driven organization. On a continuing basis, the past and present leadership of the association provide educational opportunities, golf events, a monthly magazine, research, benevolent contributions, employment referral services, and environmental stewardship information for its membership. As the profession of golf course management progresses, the individuals of MAGCS lead the way.
