Facility Description:
The Prairie Club is a 9-hole, par-31 public golf course in Glenview, IL. The course is owned by the Glenview Park District and grounds are managed by Kemper Sports through a unique contractual agreement. The course measures at 1955 yards in length and has naturalized prairie areas, two ponds, and newly built clubhouse enhance the overall golf experience. Adjacent to the back of the new clubhouse are six paddle tennis courts. An “open room” concept glassed-in viewing area within the clubhouse accommodates both golf and paddle tennis events. 

Position Summary:  
Responsible for all activities related to the care and maintenance of the golf course, grounds, and equipment. Assists the Superintendent with planning and implementing budget and operating plans.  Hires, trains and supervises staff.  Responsibilities also include applying relevant landscaping and horticultural principles to ensure that quality standards are consistently achieved and/or exceeded.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Plan and implement staffing schedules to ensure quality standards are achieved at minimum employee cost.
  • Supervise and perform various maintenance duties to maintain the golf course in proper playing condition according to Company standards.
  • Supervise the development and maintenance of drainage, irrigation, pumping and water reservoir systems.
  • Supervise all planting, fertilizing and care of turf, plants, shrubs, and trees on the golf course and grounds. Assist with the development and implementation of a fertilizer, aeration and Integrated Pest Management program for proper turf grass and plant care.
  • Supervise course construction projects.
  • Establish and implement a cleaning and preventative maintenance program for appropriate equipment, tools, vehicles, etc.
  • Ensure maintenance of all appropriate quality and cleanliness standards including, but not limited to, employee hygiene and uniforms, equipment repair areas, equipment storage areas, chemical and fertilizer storage areas, receiving areas, washing areas, lunch room areas, restrooms, etc.
  • Monitor the purchase ordering and receiving program to maintain proper inventories of supplies and ensure proper quantity and price on all purchases.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, OSHA rules and regulations, relating to chemical and fertilizer storage and disposal, employee safety, public safety, etc.
  • Manage employment activities for applicable staff members, including but not limited to, personnel recruitment and selection, performance evaluations, training, compensation, discipline and termination, etc.
  • Maintain accurate records for pertaining to department activities including, but not limited to, labor schedules, course maintenance, construction activities, equipment repair, safety meetings and activities, fertilizer and chemical applications and pest control practices.Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required operational, financial, budgetary and related reports.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to industry periodicals and participation in relevant trade associations and organizations.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate.

Summary
The Assistant Superintendent is responsible in all day to day operations in care of the maintenance of the golf course, driving range, grounds and equipment. Course Description:  Sunset Ridge Country Club, originated in 1923, is a private club located in Northfield, IL.  In addition to the 18-hole golf course, other outdoor Club amenities include a practice range and short game practice area, swimming pool, six clay tennis courts, winter skeet/trap range, and six platform tennis courts. Job Description:  The Equipment Manager oversees a comprehensive preventative maintenance program, reports directly to the Superintendent, while working alongside two Assistant Superintendents.

  •             Oversees the shop maintenance area, maintaining a clean and organized work environment

The applicant should have a strong work ethic and willing to improve themselves.  The applicant will work closely with the superintendent in all facets of golf course preparation and maintenance.

Biltmore Country Club is a private golf club located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago with an operating budget over $1 million.  Along with tennis, private lake, and beach club; Biltmore is an 18 hole golf course comprised of 007 bentgrass greens and poa/bent tees and fairways.  The maintenance department staffs approximately 25 employees during the peak growing season.

Biltmore prides itself in doing many projects in-house with recent golf course improvements including greens resurfacing, greenside bunker renovation, drainage, leveling and sodding new/existing tees, installing brick pavers, etc.  In addition, the applicant will be exposed to tree maintenance, sodding, irrigation repair, GPS spray applications, fertilizer applications, aquatic applications, equipment maintenance, managing flower and chemical cooperatives, and leadership.  Future projects may include a complete bunker renovation and construction of new tee boxes. 

Biltmore is Audubon Certified and works with the Illinois EPA in monitoring Honey Lake.  We are Tier III certified in the volunteer lake management program supervised by the Illinois EPA.  The applicant will be involved in this program.

  • Ensure maintenance of all appropriate quality and cleanliness standards including, but not limited to, employee hygiene and uniforms, equipment repair areas, equipment storage areas, chemical and fertilizer storage areas, receiving areas, washing areas, lunch room areas, restrooms, etc.

Qualifications:

  • High school education required, college degree preferred.
  • Golf course maintenance, supervisory and/or management experience a plus.
  • Must possess/obtain Illinois Pesticide Operators License

Golf Course Mechanic – White Eagle Golf Club
White Eagle Golf Club: is a private 27-hole facility located approximately 30 miles west of Chicago IL in Naperville. The club house was partially renovated in 2016-17 and the golf course just completed a renovation on bunkers, green complexes, and more in 2019. Scope:

  • Ability to acquire and maintain a pesticide license within the first three months of start.
