Job Description:  The Turf Equipment Technician will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance program that ensures the turf maintenance equipment fleet is in excellent working condition and maximizes productivity.  The successful candidate will be highly organized, self-motivated, and must be willing to work within a fast paced team environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Diagnose and perform major and minor repairs as needed in a timely manner
  • Perform spot checks on equipment in the field to ensure performance
  • Perform routine scheduled maintenance
  • Order / manage parts inventory
  • Maintain detailed service records to include all repairs, service, and associated parts and costs for all equipment
  • Assess condition of equipment fleet and make recommendations for replacements
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years experience with small engines / auto repair
  • Previous experience with golf course equipment helpful, but not necessary (Training will be provided for specific areas that fall outside of general small engine mechanics)
  • Troubleshoot and repair:small engines, diesel, electrical systems, hydraulics
  • Welding / fabrication

Equipment Technician - Grounds & Greens Department – Sunset Ridge Country Club

Course Description:  Sunset Ridge Country Club, originated in 1923, is a private club located in Northfield, IL.  In addition to the 18-hole golf course, other outdoor amenities include a practice range and short game practice area, swimming pool, eight clay tennis courts, winter skeet & trap range, and six platform tennis courts. Since 2004, the membership has invested over $20 million in improvements to the Club, including award winning renovations to both the golf course and Clubhouse facilities.  Currently, the golf course is receiving an $3.5 million irrigation system and bunker upgrade.  Annual Grounds & Greens operating budget is $1.4 million.

Job Description:  The Equipment Technician oversees a comprehensive preventative maintenance program, and reports directly to the Superintendent.  Current Equipment Technician is retiring this coming December.

Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintains all golf course equipment in excellent working condition
